ACT - Content in the Multiplatform World - October 13, 2008
from Ross Biggam/ACT

Convergence, catch-up TV, on-demand, IPTV, digital, quadruple play,… what does the future hold for European media? What is the vision of CEOs of leading television channels all over Europe? The media landscape is changing on such a rapid pace that you have no choice but to adapt your formats, programmes or even business models to the latest developments. Innovation is thus a prerequisite for being successful in today’s converging media environment in which audiovisual content becomes available on all kinds of platforms and anywhere and at any time. How do broadcasters with revenues based on advertising or subscription fees view these changes and how do they adapt business strategies to survive in an increasingly globalized and competitive market place?

Join European media CEOs as they debate the challenges lying ahead and the strategies they pursue in their respective markets.

The Commissioner for the Information Society & Media, Viviane Reding, will give an insight into the Commission’ s thinking about the need for innovation and the latest developments within our sector.

Finally, senior management within our channels all over Europe –close to the viewer and the market– give examples of innovation driven by commercial broadcasters. They will demonstrate the latest technologies and reveal some tips for how to remain competitive and attract viewers with new programmes and formats ranging from news to entertainment, sports and drama.
