Swiss radio audience, SSR-SRG continues to dominate

The channels of public broadcaster SSR-SRG maintain dominance over commercial stations, according to studies presented at the annual RadioDay.

In German-speaking Switzerland, audience market shares for the combined channels of public broadcaster SSR-SRG stand at 65.7%, private broadcasters 25.9% and stations from outside the country 8.4%.

SSR-SRG channels in French-speaking cantons hold 65.7% market share and private stations 25.9%. Close proximity to France gives foreign stations a 14.3% share.

In the Italian-speaking cantons SSR-SRG channels dominate with a combined market share of 82.1%. Foreign stations capture 12.1% and the private stations a mere 5.8%.

The leading private stations in the German-speaking region are Radio 24, Radio Top, Energy Zurich and Radio Argovia. Lausanne FM, Radio Framboise, OneFM and Radio RTN are the top rated private stations in the French-speaking cantons.

Radio listening results for the years’ first half are traditionally released at RadioDay. After changes in sampling and survey area definition carried out in April, comparisons with previous surveys are speculative.
