Six Remain in Antenna Hungaria Bidding

Since the RWI article was written, APV, the Hungarian privatization agency, narrowed the bidders field for the second round to six companies. Bidders had to survive both technical and financial criteria. The top financial bid was HUF38 billion (€153 million).

The six second round bidders are :

Abertis Telecom, subsiderary of Spanish Abertis Infrastructures, owner of toll roads and parking lots. The company was an unsuccessful bidder for ntl :Broadcast.

Ceske Radiokomunikace, Czech transmission services operator owned by Deustche Bank subsiderary Bevidion

Macquarie Communications, Australian owner of British transmission service operator Arqiva, formerly known as ntl :Broadcast. Macquarie recently purchased BBC Broadcast.

Osterreicher Rundfunk (ORF), the Austrian public broadcaster

Swisscom, Swiss telecom and transmission services operator

Télédiffusion de France, French telecom and transmission services operator

Second round bidding results are expected in mid-July.- July 2, 2005
